With four days in Iceland, our first day was spent on the Golden Circle. Our morning started in Reykjavik where we enjoyed breakfast at Babalú before exploring this colorful town, we then explored Þingvellir National Park and observed the North … Continue reading
Everything we dreamed it would be… the land of fire and ice, volcanoes, geysers and glaciers. With daylight that stretches into the night, the road trippin is limited only to the imagination. Hopping out of the car and jumping into … Continue reading
Strolling the ancient cobblestone sidewalk in Verenna that lines Lake Como, this is the beloved Italy of storybooks. Verenna is a fishing village with people that are a reflection of its heritage, hard workers, friendly and honest. Ask a question … Continue reading
Perched on a cliff overlooking Lake Como, our Airbnb in Verenna was like a dream. This storybook fishing village dates back to the 13th century and is like a time capsule from the past. The kindness of our Airbnb host … Continue reading
Our time in Lucerne, Switzerland was varied, resting up at our storybook cottage, enjoying the remnants of a leftover hazelnut pastry with some rich coffee while watching a unexpected snowfall from our second floor room. We walked into the city … Continue reading
Arriving by train into Lucerne, Switzerland we made our way up the hill to Christian and Tone’s lovely swiss cottage. Being welcomed into someones home as a guest and depart as new friends is one of the reasons I cannot recall the … Continue reading
I always keep my camera by the bed when I travel so that I can snap my “waking view”. This morning’s capture was of the fog moving through this magical valley town of Lauterbrunnen, beautifully framing the little cog train … Continue reading
Lausanne to Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland. Our adventure continues as we ride the Grütschalpbahn (Lauterbrunnen-Mürren mountain railway)
It was wonderful to be reunited with Carissa after the longest separation since her birth. To have our reunion take place in Switzerland, where she has been studying abroad for the past year, added to the layers of beauty. With … Continue reading
A few months ago I had the pleasure of exploring Paris with my daughter Carissa, making some very special memories together. The little scooter video we made ( https://vimeo.com/144948803) never ceases to make me smile!
Carol and I are so excited to return to Europe today and explore this part of the world together with Carissa. I cannot wait to photograph from The Bernina Express as this amazing train makes its way through the Swiss Engadin Alps and on to beautiful Lake Como in Italy. Flying from Milan to Iceland will give me the opportunity to photograph “The Land of Fire and Ice” with its dramatic volcanos, glaciers and geysers.
After Iceland Carissa and I will revisit Paris before making our way by train to the south of France. Surrounded by the lavender fields of Provence we will stay in one of Frances most fascinating villages, 12th century Oppède le vieux. Perched on a hill with cobblestone streets so narrow that ones car (and cares) are left at the base of the mountain, we our entrance on foot. BELLE DE NUIT, a former bakery turned home will be the perfect base for day trips to the French Riviera where I will have the opportunity to photography Cassis, home to some of the most beautiful water on planet earth.
It will be very hard to say goodbye to Carissa as she studies abroad one more semester in Lausanne but from there I will continue to Lisbon Portugal before making my way to Ethiopia via Dubai to photograph for the Adera Foundation in Addis Ababa.
My daily 3pm seat at Avoca coffee will be unoccupied for over a month but I will return with fresh stories for those that I regularly meet and whose company I treasure.
